Scientific Name: Gypsophilia paniculata

Common Name: Gyp, Baby's Breath

Description: A group of flowers that have a cloud of tiny flowers. Colors can range from white to a light blue to pink. This flower is commonly used in bouquets and many arrangement styles. There are both single and double flower varieties and there are many varieties with different flower shapes and styles. Gyp is available year round and has a vase life of 7 to 10 days.

How to care for your gypsophilia:

• Remove any packaging and binding from the gyp.
• Remove any foliage that would fall under the water line and any damaged leaves.
• Rinse off the stems to remove any dirt or debris that could be on them.
• Using a sharp knife or pruner, cut off at least an inch from each stem at a diagonal.
• Dip each stem immediately into a hydrating solution.
• Place the stems into a clean container filled with a water and flower food solution.
• Place the gyp in the cooler at 33 to 36 degrees for at least two hours before selling.
• Clean the container, replace the solution, and recut the stems every other day.
