Common Name: Mums

Description: Mums have round blooms at the end of long stems. There are many varieties including single flowered standards, multi-flowered sprays, spiders, daisys, and many more. There are many, many colors available. Mums are available year round and are often used as either a filler or color additive to an arrangement.

How to care for your mums:

• Remove the mums from the box as soon as possible.
• Remove any sleeves or packing material around the mums.
• Using a sharp knife or pruners, cut at least 2 inches off the bottom of the stems underwater.
• Make sure that the flowers have no diseases or insects present.
• Remove the foliage that would lie under the water line so as to not contaminate the water.
• Place the freshly cut stems in a clean container filled with a warm water and flower food solution.
• Keep the flowers in a cooler with the temperature between 33 and 35 degrees and 90 percent humidity.
• Make sure to clean the container every other day and to replace the solution. Before returning the stems to the clean solution, be sure to cut them in a similar style.
