Common Name: Arabian Star Flower, Star of Bethlehem, Wonder Flower, Chincherinchee

Description: Ornithogalum is world famous as one of the, if not the, first cut flower sold internationally. The reason for its great success lies in its lifespan, which can be several months. The flower has a long stem with a cluster of flowers at the top. The number of flowers varies with varieties as do the color. They are available year round.

How to care for your Ornithogalum:

• Remove any packaging materials upon recieving your flowers.
• Remove any foliage or residue that may be on the stems, wash the stems off with water.
• Cut at least an inch off each stem with a sharp knife or pruners at a diagonal.
• Place the freshly cut stems in a hydrating solution.
• After being hydrated, place the stems in a clean container with a water and flower food solution.
• To the flower food, add a tablespoon of sugar per quart of water, to ensure proper blossoming.
• Place the ornithogalum in a cooler. Let them drink for at least two hours before selling.
• Clean the container, recut the stems, and replace the solution every other day.
